Atlanta Surgeon Thomas W. Wood, M.D., FACS


Dr. Thomas William Wood, F.A.C.S. joined North Atlanta Surgical Associates after completing a fellowship in Hepatopancreaticobiliary and Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery at the Southeastern Center for Digestive Disorders and Pancreatic Cancer at Florida Hospital Tampa.

He grew up in Dekalb County and graduated from Dunwoody High School in the year 2000. He subsequently attended the University of Georgia and its Honors Program, graduating in 2004 with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology magna cum laude.

He then attended the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, graduating in 2008. Subsequently, he began his general surgery internship at Atlanta Medical Center. He completed residency, including a year as Chief Resident, in 2013. After successful completion of general surgery residency, he then began fellowship training in Tampa, Florida.

He was a fellow in Advanced Gastrointestinal and Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgery (Advanced GI and HPB) from 2013 to 2014. His training included minimally invasive surgical techniques and experience with Intuitive Surgical's DaVinci Robot.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, having become board certified in 2013. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is active in the Americas Hepatopancreaticobiliary Association (AHPBA), Southeastern Surgical Congress (SESC), Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT), and the Pancreas Club. During residency and fellowship, he presented at nationally recognized meetings of the above societies. His clinical interests include minimally invasive general surgery, along with diseases of the Liver, Pancreas and Biliary Tract.

Dr. Thomas Wood is currently the Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Northside Hospital. 

He resides in the Dunwoody area with his wife Katie and two sons.
