Our general surgeons use minimally-invasive laparoscopic surgery when possible, so you heal faster and get back to your normal lifestyle.

Robotic Surgery

What is robotic surgery?

Robotic Surgery is a procedure similar to laparoscopic surgery. A computer remotely controls small instruments attached to the robot. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia. Your surgeon will be at a computer station, which controls the robot instruments. The robot mimics the movements of the surgeon's hands. An attached endoscope will allow your surgeon to see magnified real time images of your body.

Surgeons may utilize this procedure because of its advantages over standard endoscopic techniques (laparoscopy). Less invasive outcomes stem from the reduction of the surgeons movements. An example would be movement of ½ inch for each 1 inch the surgeon moves. The instruments help reduce hand tremors and assist accessing more difficult areas of a patient’s body as opposed to the traditional laparoscopic surgery. This procedure is known for allowing more visualization of the area being treated.
